Roselle, IL

The village of Roselle is a northwest suburb of Chicago, stretching across DuPage and Cook counties just south of Schaumburg. Roselle covers nearly 5.5 square miles of land, home to a population of more than 22,000 people under its motto, “Tradition Meets Tomorrow.”

The land on which the current village stands began to be settled in the 1830s and soon became a farming source of corn and flax. Roselle got its name supposedly from a misprint of the town’s name of Rosell on the local train schedule. The village was later incorporated in 1922 and today functions as a bedroom community for commuters heading to Chicago or other nearby suburbs for work. Popular outdoor spaces include Turner Pond, Goose Lake and Spring Creek, while bicycle trails link Roselle to the neighboring communities of Schaumburg and Bloomingdale.
